About My Clients

Because of the severe lack of queer and trans therapists of colors, I like to prioritize queer and/or trans people of color. I'm happy to meet with anyone, though, to see if we could be a good fit! I have experience working with: immigrants; people who have been unhoused; young people (14+); people living with HIV; people in poly relationships; people seeking sexuality and gender affirmation; people in need of substance use support; and people who are concerned about their sexual health.

My Background and Approach

Since the end of 2021, I have been studying at the University of Michigan to become a clinical social worker. I've received training in multiple theories and models, including: trauma-informed and trauma-focused methodologies; cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT); dialectical behavior therapy (DBT); attachment theory; and solutions-focused therapy. My approach to therapy is holistic, humanistic, and person-centered. I offer tools for coping in stressful situations, and I co-create therapeutic goals with clients to reach whatever aims they want to achieve. I have a long history working with queer and trans youth in high school and their parents. Currently, I coach leaders to adopt Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) principles in their work. I also offer multiple trainings on gender, race, and oppression. If you've struggled coping against microaggressions or maybe challenging your own internalized feelings about race and gender, I'd love to work on that with you!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My values are grounded in Freirean pedagogy and humanizing principles. I believe what Paolo Freire taught - that liberation comes through critical consciousness and participatory dialogue. Freire talks about five principles of learning towards liberation: - Humility in teaching and learning - Hope in change - Faith in our people - Love for all people - Critical thinking and asking useful questions I am committed to being anti-racist and being pro-Black - to recognizing my privileges and using it to benefit others. I am committed to fighting for a world where trans people can exist freely, where our bodies aren’t owned by others and our identities aren’t demonized. My commitments show up in my work and organizing, including: - supporting Black trans-led organizations to get funding - challenging anti-Blackness in large corporations and organizations - managing prison abolition study groups - leading a social work labor organizing team
