About My Clients

I work with adults from immigrant backgrounds, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folks, and individuals who have experienced trauma - intergenerational, sexual assault or intimate partner violence, racism, discrimination, and systemic oppression, or in the context of attachment. I focus both on what happened and what didn't happen; what needs were unmet, how you may have been left alone to navigate your emotions, and how those earlier experiences may continue to shape your present reality.

My Background and Approach

As a cis Indonesian-Thai-Chinese woman who grew up primarily in Southeast Asia but is American by birth, I am fascinated by how our varied intersecting identities impact our psyche, sense of self, belonging, and connection to the world. As an art psychotherapist of color, I acknowledge the very real impact that our privileged and marginalized identities have on our lives and mental health. I believe that all parts of you, even those you recoil from, have helped you survive in some way. I believe you are the expert of your own lived experience, and I aim to foster curiosity and compassion in the therapeutic space. To tailor the session to you, I utilize an integrative approach that includes art therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and attachment theory through a neurobiological framework. I love integrating brain science and how this squishy organ helps us make sense of the world around us, how we relate to others in both past and present, and how we develop our sense of self.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in working collaboratively with you and meeting you where you are, without judgment or bias. While safety may not always be possible due to systemic racism, ableism, inequity and other societal oppressions that impacts us generationally and in the present, I aim to create safer spaces for folks to be seen, heard, and understood, even if only for a moment. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I specialize in working with BIPOC or folks from immigrant backgrounds, international students, and fellow “third culture kids.” I welcome the opportunity to walk with you as you learn to live your version of the “good life” in alignment with your values and aspirations, and to live in better harmony with all the different parts of you, even the ones you recoil from.
