About My Clients
I work with a variety of individuals from age 5 to 99!! I am highly sensitive to LGBTQ+ISSUES and am most empathetic. I am passionate in treating individuals struggling with various disorders such as depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, ADD, and or bipolar disorder by performing a psychiatric evaluation and prescribing beneficial psychotropic medication along with medication management while adding some psychotherapy to reinforce ones coping strategies
My Background and Approach
I will provide a thorough psychiatric evaluation with a treatment plan that may or may not benefit from psychotropic medication. I will prescribe beneficial medication that will compliment your psychotherapy and also in order to have a better understanding will provide additional psychotherapy and communication in an effort to get the best understanding of your clinical situation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I firmly believe that everyone has the potential to grow and change at any time of their lives. I believe that there is no finality to human capacity. I believe there are many clinical explanations for symptoms of depression, anxiety, poor attention, insomnia and mood disorder that can be treated not only with therapy but with the addition of psychotropic medication. As a child, I grew up with a single mother who struggled with bipolar depression and through various medications and psychotherapy I personally witnessed great improvements and have had a high respect for not only the individual struggling but the family impact as well. I recently took a friend with me on a wonderful vacation and he asked me if I had told everyone that he was homosexual. He was taken back when I said that I would not say, "hey, I am bringing Shelly and she is heterosexual!" needless to say the trip was amazing and his acceptance was unmeasurable!" I do not discriminate whatsoever!
