About My Clients
Olive Tree Counseling Services, LLC offers individual sessions and (rotating) group sessions for those between the ages of 5-18 yrs. I specialize in working with children and adolescents who are experiencing anxiety*, depression, school struggles and social skills, grief/loss, and trauma. *It is important to note that anxiety comes in many forms and can often be under or over pathologized but is always worth exploring.
My Background and Approach
I am a former elementary school teacher with several years of experience working in the Montgomery County Public School System and as a social worker for the MC Infants and Toddlers Program. Additionally, I was a social worker for Hawaii’s Dept. of Health in the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Division. I have gained extensive knowledge of the difficulties and challenges that children, teens, & their families face today. I have a compassionate, calm, easy-going style that creates a natural and safe environment for all. I take a holistic, strengths-based approach and strive for a genuine patient-therapist relationship where parent and child/teen are truly heard, understood, and encouraged. My goal is to help you find and use your confidence to thrive in spite of tough times, using learned tools and strategies that are meaningful and make sense for you. Therapeutic techniques used in my sessions include play therapy (including sand and art) CBT, ACT, and traditional psychotherapy.
