About My Clients
I often work with disabled and queer people. Chronic pain, managing healthcare, and caregiving challenges are common concerns I talk about with folks. People often explore expansive identities with me (Who am I? How does disability/queerness/race/veteran status impact who I am and how others see me? How do I describe myself to other people?). When we start working together, we will become a collaborative team to understand your goals and reach them!
My Background and Approach
I approach my work with a humanistic perspective and emphasis on liberation. This approach means: 1. I have unconditional positive regard for you 2. I look for areas of strength and growth in each person 3. I work to understand each person within their unique cultural context 4. I emphasize the role of oppression, empowerment, and interconnectedness in healing
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a white, genderqueer, bisexual, polyamorous, fat, spiritual person. I believe that all humans can and should be treated with dignity and care regardless of ability, race, skin color, sexuality, gender, immigration status, body size, age, nationality, etc. I actively work to break down my internalized colonialism to reduce the negative impact of colonialism on my work and on my communities. I enjoy activism and supporting causes for human rights.
