About My Clients
I can help you navigate the discomfort of worry, rumination, ritualized behavior, avoidance, and emptiness, while moving toward balance and emotional freedom. Less anxiety, more YOU! Anxious adults work with me to feel more empowered and satisfied, while decreasing difficult emotions. Parents of anxious kids partner with me to implement this process in their parenting. As an anxiety therapist and parent coach, I help people by facilitating mindfulness, “anti-avoidance”, and self-compassion.
My Background and Approach
I've found behavioral and more goal-oriented approaches to have its benefits (especially for some) and person-centered exploration and processing to be beneficial too (especially for others). In my experience, most people benefit from a blend of both. I often employ strategies from Exposure and Response Prevention to help people do the things they've been avoiding, and decrease the behaviors they feel like they can't control. Mindfulness widely has a positive impact, and I utilize a mindful approach when clients are open to it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I enjoy practicing radical acceptance (not the same as allowing all things), which comes into play as a therapist as well as outside of work. As I strive to be culturally humble and aware, I like to advocate for historically marginalized populations.
