About My Clients
Many folks see me during overwhelming times in their lives, when they are in need of compassion and outside perspective to help them through. Others simply want to gain better self-awareness and insight into their every day routines and relationships, even if they aren't experiencing a turbulent time. I typically work with adults on college-related issues, relationship and family-of-origin issues, including adult children of alcoholics, and grief processing.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Master's degree in clinical counseling, with a focus on the college population, from Eastern Michigan University. I am now fully licensed in both Michigan and California. My counseling style is tailored to each client’s unique strengths and goals, although I primarily work relationally and psychodynamically. Therapy with me is collaborative, and it is meant to offer a different kind of relationship than your personal ones. I believe that curiosity, compassion, and playfulness are missing from a lot of our everyday lives, and I try to bring all of these qualities to my work with others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a lot of curiosities and interests in my personal and professional lives, and I enjoy being in community with others. Outside of my work as a therapist, I volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for youth in need, and I also volunteer regularly with animals in need. I work to continue educating myself and advocating for marginalized groups. I try to be involved in arts and crafts, too, and I love coming together with folks who want to exercise their creative minds more.
