About My Clients
I work with individuals, couples and families as well as children and adolescents. I have expertise in treating depression, anxiety, life changes or events, trauma and PTSD, as well as relationship issues. I work with various clients from all walks of life, from different orientations, genders, religious backgrounds, ethnicity, age, and ability.
My Background and Approach
What I offer above all else is a safe, judgment-free space to discuss what is going on in your life. I do so with compassion, curiosity, and acceptance. All of the research and my personal experience has proven that the relationship between the therapist and client is what determines the most sustainable success for you. This relational aspect is foundational to how I proceed with clients. I have been trained in several practices and primarily use CBT and Solution focused therapy techniques throughout my work. I received a Masters of Science in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University, a COAMFTE accredited program.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Like most therapists, I have a dedication to helping others. Above helping, I have a deep passion for understanding how each person navigates their own struggle and how they see their own solutions. In therapy, my goal is to treat you as the expert in your own life and offer guidance and support along your journey towards wellness and mental health. I am often a very curious person so I approach all sessions with an open mind about your own perspective and experience. While I respect each person's individual journey, I am comfortable asking difficult questions and challenging you on your thoughts, beliefs, and actions. I do so in a caring manner always taking into account how the interaction will benefit you. I will always do so at a pace that is comfortable for each person.
