About My Clients

Sometimes life feels like more than you know how to carry. You may be dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma or relationship difficulties, or going through a period when several things have become overwhelming at once. You don’t need to minimize what you’re going through or have a plan for fixing it before coming to therapy. We can start with what feels most difficult right now. If you’d like to work with me, you can book a first session through my website.

My Background and Approach

Before becoming a therapist, I supported children, adults and families in foster care, schools and crisis settings. I’ve worked with people in moments when they felt frightened, uncertain or unsure what would happen next. This has taught me how to stay calm when someone is struggling and how to focus first on what would help them feel safer and more able to cope. In therapy, we’ll look at what is making everyday life difficult rather than expecting you to explain your whole history at once. I use CBT to help you identify thoughts that may be intensifying anxiety or pulling you further into depression. We may also use mindfulness when your mind feels difficult to slow down, then build coping strategies you can use between sessions. My style is patient, encouraging and practical. We’ll set goals that feel achievable from where you are now and adjust them as things change.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I’m naturally optimistic, but I don’t think that means overlooking how hard something is. I’ve worked with people during very difficult periods in their lives, and I know that encouragement is only helpful when you also feel understood. I like to find moments of lightness in therapy, including humor when it feels right. Some sessions will involve difficult conversations, but that doesn’t mean every part of therapy has to feel heavy. I want you to be able to talk honestly about what is happening and take the time you need to work through it.
