About My Clients
My clients come wanting a change - they are tired of the shame placed upon them by a society with strict body guidelines and harsh penalties for not conforming. Maybe you want to look inside and figure out what you believe about bodies, and then rearrange or change what you find. Here you will find a non-judgmental space to release shame and begin to write a new story.
My Background and Approach
I work from a trauma informed, Body Trust® framework, and I believe that you are the expert in your own body and writer of your own story. As a Certified Body Trust Provider®, I have done my own work surrounding weight stigma and fat bias, and living in a queer, fat body has provided me the life experience to sit with clients who are experiencing the oppression that can come with inhabiting bodies that fall outside the patriarchal, heteronormative ideals. I believe in the strength of my clients to find healing, and never expect a client to conform to the beliefs of society in order to "fit in." I love being a witness to my client’s stories and assisting in creating a story line where you are the main character!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I navigate the world of eating disorder treatment and body liberation with the intention of bringing Health at Every Size® and Body Trust lens to anyone in my path. Clients with Binge Eating Disorder are my passion and I delight in walking clients down the path to embodiment. I enjoy helping clients rewrite their body stories, and I believe that body activism is a key part in being a therapist. A former personal trainer and pre and post-natal fitness expert, I also love working with moms to help their kids live lives free from diet culture and body frustration. I am committed to providing a safe and brave space that is fat, queer and sex positive. I believe every body deserves to be seen, and that fat bodies are incredibly amazing.
