About My Clients
My clients tend to have a history of complex trauma or developmental trauma that impacts both their relationships with others and their relationship with themselves. I offer a supportive, caring, and relational therapeutic space, as well as a somatic (body-centered) approach, to aid folks in finding relief from painful patterns. I guide folks in processing trauma from a "bottom-up" lens which helps those who've felt stuck with talk therapy alone.
My Background and Approach
My approach to counseling starts with a belief that healing happens within a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental relationship. Also, as a therapist I do not take the role of "expert", but rather my goal is to help clients discover their own inherent wisdom. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Somatic (body-centered) Counseling from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. I incorporate Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) into my approach to treat trauma. Additionally, I am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a holistic and somatic approach to treating trauma. I am also trained in client-centered therapy, attachment theory, Motivational Interviewing, and operate from anti-oppression lens. As a practiced meditator, I weave mindfulness throughout my work with clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
From a somatic perspective, I believe the body and the mind are intimately linked and I take trauma into consideration when I incorporate body awareness. I respect your past experiences, your body, and honor the pace at which you heal best. I also believe that systems play an important role in our experience and should be taken into account when treating mental health; these systems can include culture, institutions, community, family, intimate relationships and more. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex positive, body/size/ability inclusive, believe in Health at Every Size (HAES) and my practice is rooted in anti-oppression. I understand that finding a therapist and reaching out for support takes courage - I am honored to support you on your journey.
