About My Clients
Are you finding it increasingly difficult to turn off worry thoughts or to ignore the judgmental voices in your head? Have feelings of anxiety and sadness intensified, but you’re not sure how to feel like yourself again? My goal as a therapist is to understand your personal struggles and identify your unique strengths, to create a foundation of healing for the most challenging areas of your life. It is possible to feel better and finding a therapist you trust is the first step.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, feelings of sadness, or difficulty with self image. I also specialize in working with people in stages of transition; high school to college, college to career, parenting, and retirement. Often our natural response is to push away negative feelings or try to distract ourselves. Using individualized strength-based, CBT, and mindfulness techniques, I help clients compassionately recognize and observe uncomfortable feelings, to identify and implement positive and lasting change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When clients have an open, compassionate, and respectful counselor who accepts each part of who they are, they can safely begin accepting themselves and working on the most painful areas of their life. I use mindfulness techniques with clients because I have experienced the benefits first hand. I've been a counselor for 11 years, but during a difficult life transition six years ago, I decided to give meditation a try. It has been a constant source of healing through the highs and lows of my life. Through mindfulness I have decreased anxiety, improved my relationship with myself, and have formed deeper relationships with others. I love sharing mindfulness techniques with client's because I know personally how effective they can be. If you think we'd be a good fit, lets chat!
