About My Clients
I work with students and adults with a focus on life transitions. I meet patients where they are and provide a guiding hand with the patient's lead. This work is through a trauma-informed lens leveraging a person-centered approach.
My Background and Approach
The gift of therapy is priceless and highly transformative. I have personal experience related to grief & loss, high conflict and toxic relationships, health scares, career challenges and changes, intergenerational trauma and raising young adults. My therapeutic journey was led by a skilled therapist, which in turn inspired me to help others. My previous clinical training includes working with individuals at UCSB Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and New Beginnings in Santa Barbara. In addition, I currently serve as the Life Skills Coordinator at New Beginnings where I work directly with community partners such as Transition House, Carp Connect, Johnson Court and Villa Majella to coordinate and build group therapy programs for Santa Barbara County. I also provide counseling through Student Health & Wellness at Santa Barbara Community College.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My belief is that we all experience(d) varying levels of trauma (from assault to a bad teacher or challenging event) that can play out in our day to day lives that create imbalances within. To navigate this imbalance, my approach is similar to that of a functional medicine professional. A focus on the mental mind, the physical body, and the inner self with the goal of all three working in harmony together. This technique incorporates empathic listening, somatic response analysis and reflective questioning that facilitates insight for the patient.
