About My Clients
I see clients who are 15-99+ years old. I work with those who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression and trauma. If you are struggling with something other than what is listed, please don't let that prevent you from reaching out. I have worked with many different diagnoses and am happy to meet with you to see if I am a good fit for you. If not, I am more than happy to refer you to my colleagues that might be better suited for your needs. My #1 goal is to make sure you get the care you need.
My Background and Approach
I went to Aurora University where I received both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Social Work with a specialization in healthcare but more specifically in hospice and bereavement. I have experience working in community mental health centers, running mental health groups for adults and the elderly, working in hospitals providing crisis assessments and intervention in addition to working in private practice. I pull from my years of experience to use interventions that will work best for you. I like to educate my clients so they better understand their diagnosis. I have a love of learning and will always look for ways to stay on top of my training.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone could benefit from seeing a therapist (at least from time to time or periodically throughout their life) and am open with all my clients that I, too, have a therapist. We cannot help others if our glass is empty. It's also important for me to be able to show my clients that I practice what I preach when it comes to the importance of self-care. I am an LGBTQ+ ally. I have many friends and family who are in this community. Something I am most proud of was being able to participate in the very first PRIDE parade in Aurora, IL. Being a social worker, I am also very passionate in social justice and participate in marches whenever I am able to do so. I have participated in marches to support women's rights, BLM and Planned Parenthood.
