About My Clients
I am most familiar in working with dual diagnosis treatment, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, and general stress improvement and reduction. Clients most often come to me looking to resolve unwanted thinking patterns, feeling stuck, or unwanted trauma responses. My sessions are very client centered and driven, but often focus on building insight, awareness, and sense of skill and wellbeing.
My Background and Approach
My theoretical framework comes from integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, self compassion, and shame reduction into what the client says is working for them. I am EMDR trained and highly utilize concepts of core beliefs and trauma-informed approaches even with my non-EMDR clients. In our fast pace lives, culturally defined roles, and sometimes through our lenses of trauma, we can lose track of other ways of thinking and our body's experiences and needs. I believe therapy is about learning to be more present with what we need as humans and finding what thinking and action serves us.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe wellness has different definitions and paths for each person, and I love being a part of my clients' journey in creating, adjusting, and respecting that picture. My concept of quality therapy includes discovery, personally defined healing, creating new connections, and finding ways to take self-compassionate action. I enjoy art, media, and literature and integrate this into my work whenever possible. Clients and colleagues have described me as calm, compassionate, curious, and a bit nerdy. I embrace these identities in my role and enjoy working with a variety of communities and identities. I work from a secular orientation with respect to and experience with several religious or non religious client perspectives. I am LGBTQIA+ allied, racial justice allied, body positive, and would love to see how I can be an ally and therapeutic support to you.
