About My Clients
I strive to make therapy a positive experience and have experience working with individuals aged 5 up to 25, from working with the family as a unit with small children and supporting young adults with the transitions that come with growing into adult life.
My Background and Approach
I has worked with people dealing with grief/loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and those within the LGBTQIA community. I utilize a variety of modalities focused on the individual and current needs, including CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, ERP, and Triple P Parenting Program.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our society focuses on putting others in boxes, I recognize the positives and many negatives that come from wanting to understand our experiences by putting labels on them. I consider social worker to be the most important descriptor for myself, I'm focused on acknowledging the members of our communities that are marginalized and listening to ways that would improve their lives. I myself am part of the LGBTQ community and it took moving away to go to college to recognize this due to the small Christian community I grew up in. I've dealt with anxiety and ADHD through my life, experiences that have been helpful in working with others who deal with similar behaviors and patterns. I also recognize that skills that have helped my life are just that - ones that have helped me. I have spent time expanding my knowledge base to include many ways that others have found beneficial for their own lives.
