About My Clients
I believe we all have behaviors, vices, substances and patterns that get in the way of living in a way that is rich in meaning and purpose. I care deeply about helping people explore their patterns of getting their needs met, from a place of non-judgement and compassion. I integrate relational neuroscience with an understanding of how substances and painful experiences intersect leading to feeling stuck, alone and exacerbate suffering.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a foundation within Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help folks get clear on what matters most to them, and take steps NOW, not when things settle down, or the chaos reduces, or the overwhelm decreases. I value utilizing the brain and nervous system to help understand why we do what we do without the veil of shame. I have had the honor of working both in a variety of capacities, from working as a paraprofessional/tech 20 years ago, to clinical director at a residential facility more recently. Through these experiences, I have had the joy of coming along side people in their healing. I have focused on the role of substances/alcohol as a form of coping, also have experience in using food as a means of numbing from their internal experiences. I operate from a place of the human condition - that we all know pain, we are all hurting, and the exact nature of those experiences are deeply individualized and impacted by culture, family of origin, and lack of feeling known.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value deep connections and quality time with loved ones. I spend time personally focusing on awareness of my own privilege and biases so I can better serve as an anti-racism ally. I care passionately about ALL forms of intelligence, having been deeply connected to the disability community for my entire life.
