About My Clients

Are you looking for ways to experience deep and lasting change? Maybe you’ve tried therapy before, but still feel something is missing. Contrary to the messages of modern day psychology, your struggles are not evidence of deficiency or defectiveness. What you seek actually already exists inside of you. IFS is a great way to dust off your personal map and discover your greatest source of healing. I work with individuals, couples and parents who are ready to dive deep and experience true change.

My Background and Approach

I believe experience matters. Over the course of my 25 year career in human services I have worked in many professional settings that helped me see and experience relationships in unique and valuable ways. These settings include farming, juvenile corrections, the restaurant industry, youth leadership programs, and community mental health. I have been in private practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist since 2016. Using the framework of Internal Family Systems, I help clients identify and release the burdens that keep them from experiencing a deeper sense of connection with themselves and in their relationships with others. I hold space for the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual impact of trauma. I have received additional training in EMDR and other body-focused approaches to treat trauma and attachment wounds. I have been influenced by the work of Dan Siegel, Bessel Van der Kolk and Gabor Mate. I also have specialized training to work with couples and parents.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have always been interested in human behavior and relationships. Growing up the oldest of 5 children and 24 grandchildren, family was our priority. I learned both the safety and joy of relationship and the pain of conflict, fear and shame. I have found that life is not always what we expect or hope for. In a culture that values logic over emotions and intuition, we aren’t taught to move through natural and inevitable responses to heartbreak and loss. But we are not meant to get stuck in the pain. There is a very clear path of honoring and respecting the impact of pain that allows for its true release. I have been lucky enough to have helpers, including therapists, guide me to that path when I, myself, didn't know the way. I have personally received and benefited from therapy over the course of my life, and it is with honor and deep respect that I hold this role. I find nothing more fascinating or fulfilling than exploring the mystery and beauty of life with my clients.
