About My Clients
My clients have experienced obvious significant traumatic events as well as not-so-obvious traumas, such as chronic stress or illness, loneliness, emotional neglect, or other long-term family conflict. Often, my clients report chronic pain or body impairment that cannot be explained medically. They have trouble with intimacy, relationships, or maintaining employment due to constant anxiety or depression. These clients are carrying a burden others cannot see and just want to be seen.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in the social work field since 2007, and during that time I have advocated for children, families, and the elderly to protect vulnerable individuals from abuse and neglect. I have also worked with survivors of sexual assault and rape to regain control of their bodies and their futures. I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and also draw from trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) modalities to customize treatment for each client's individual needs. These skills allow me to help educate my clients about mental health and teach skills they need to cope with the difficulties they have experienced. I have seen my clients transform their lives and leave the past in the past, no matter how significant the trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer in the possibility of positive change and I am an advocate for marginalized groups by training and by personal values.
