About My Clients
With increased understanding of ourselves and our experiences comes an enhanced ability to intentionally navigate the world and live a more fulfilling life. Taking a dynamic approach, I work most effectively with clients who want to increase their understanding of why they do what they do, and how past relationships (both with themselves and others) affect current functioning and concerns. It is with this new understanding that they can change patterns that are no longer working for them.
My Background and Approach
Although trained as a generalist psychologist, I have extensive clinical and research experience working with men with eating and body image concerns, for which I use a Health At Every Size (HAES) framework. More broadly, I have worked with all genders regarding eating and body image concerns, and am passionate about working with issues related to masculinity and gender roles, identity development, relationships, life transitions, and couples counseling. I earned my bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Ohio State's University's Counseling and Consultation Service and my post-doctoral fellowship at IUP's Counseling Center. I currently work at Ohio State as a staff psychologist, providing psychotherapy, consultation, and supervision. I also have experience working in an outpatient community mental health setting with adults across the age, socioeconomic, gender, and body size spectrums.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Your identities (i.e. sexual orientation, gender, race, age, size, profession, etc.) impact how you navigate and experience the world. We will work together to gain understanding of how these identities inform your unique experience to help you reach your therapy goals and live a more fulfilling life. It is my hope that through therapy you will find the voice to understand and own your story, thereby increasing your agency to intentionally write your next chapter.
