About My Clients

If you are looking to dedicate time to building compassion and understanding for yourself and learn how to live with acceptance and commitment to your values regardless of limitations. As a therapist, I aim to offer a relationship that is specifically meant for providing a safe, compassionate space therefore I am committed to social justice through anti-racism work and affirm people from all sexual orientations, religious backgrounds and cultural experiences.

My Background and Approach

I have a master's degree from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology where I learned about what it looks like to deconstruct faith, and reclaim spirituality. While there, I joined a group of other students in practicing dance therapy techniques as we found that embodiment is a vital part of healing. I spent my first 6 years of practice working with youth, families, and adults in community mental health settings. This offered me ample experience with a wide variety of folks and I'm so grateful for my time there. I approach therapy from a relational psychodynamic perspective and believe in the importance of healthy attachment starting in the therapeutic relationship so that clients can build secure attachments in other relationships. I believe that most of what we suffer from originated in our past and so I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help people heal from past traumas.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Values that guide my practice: acceptance of every person because of what makes each of us unique including our sexual preference, the color of our skin, our culture, and the way we practice spirituality. A belief that every person has the power to overcome tragedy and live a fulfilling life. A strong stance against shame. Rather, a belief that we are born good at our core and bad things happen to us by people who had bad things happen to them. Compassion being the ultimate antidote to shame - compassion for both self and others. That healthy relationship is one marked by differentiation, mutual respect, equality of power, non-violence and an ever-growing curiosity toward the other. Change can occur within a therapeutic relationship between two humans. One with a singular goal being to help the other discover the goodness and power that lies within them. It is through this relationship that old patterns of relating can be worked on in a safe environment.
