About My Clients
We're all seeking a balance between work and life; but what happens when those lines start to get blurry? Perhaps, difficult life situations are impacting your work. Maybe you are feeling disengaged in your day-to-day tasks at work and it is causing high levels of stress and uncertainty about your future. Burnout isn't just feeling tired, it's feeling disconnected. I know, because I have been there too. I love helping folks rediscover what's truly important to them and regain a sense of balance.
My Background and Approach
My background is in career coaching and mental health counseling, so I understand the nuances that come with challenges between work and mental health. Regardless of where you're at, I like to start with assessing overall functioning, getting specific about what your values are, and understanding what your innate strengths are. A big part of my work is also teaching clients to make space for difficult thoughts/feelings versus avoiding or actively struggling with them. We know that discomfort is a part of life, but the suffering is optional. Once you are able to disengage from the burnout a bit, then we'll look at the origins to figure out supports to implement. I take a person-centered approach, which means I believe you are the expert of your experience. Previous clients have shared that my approach is a balance of holding space and offering concrete skills/strategies to assist with digging out of burnout. I try to utilize humor when possible and sharing resources is my love language.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you are more than a diagnosis. Having a name for what you are experiencing can be super validating AND it can keep people feeling stuck in a box that limits what they feel capable of. You are more than capable of making change and it's okay to need the guidance of someone else on that journey. I have definitely leaned on the assistance of mental health professionals and career coaches before and I try to never forget what it feels like to be on the other side of the couch. As a clinician who focuses on the intersection between career and mental health, I actively validate the inequitable barriers folx with intersectional identities face and tailor my approach/resources I provide. When it comes to causes that are important to me, I actively support the LGBTQ+ community and BLM movement through protests/marches/monetary donations and support all individuals in their right to body autonomy.
