About My Clients
I often meet my clients when they’re going through something that is too much for them to get through alone, and they're feeling like some extra support would help. Life is full of transitions--family changes, identity changes, job changes, or facing the unexpected. I understand those moments of uncertainty, when we feel a little lost. I love to help my clients find their clarity, and decide what life they want to live.
My Background and Approach
I graduated from the University of Michigan with my master’s degree in social work in 2013. Since then, I’ve been working in many of the places you’d find social workers—research and evaluation projects, nonprofits, policy development, and clinical settings. In early 2016, I decided to devote my full-time efforts to being a therapist, because nothing else gives me the same joy I feel when my client and I celebrate a new level of healing that is happening in their lives. My main areas of practice have focused on issues of anxiety, depression, and trauma. It's is truly amazing to see my clients heal by bringing new awareness of past experiences into their present reality. By moving through those spaces, we're able to identify what goals they want to reach and which action steps feel are most beneficial to moving forward. I like to very strongly collaborate with my clients; I want honesty and transparency from both of us about our process together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe it is my life's work to leave this world a little better than I found it. We are all intrinsically interconnected, and have choice over the impact we make with our presence. I believe striving to create good, kindness, support, and love have a ripple effect that can truly change the world for the better. I grew up in a white, rural, conservative Christian town. I moved away because the values of that place don't fit who I am; but living there did give me the gift of perspective. I think I am now more able to appreciate the beauty in people's expressions of their uniqueness; and I know that I don't need to be the same as someone else in order to respect and value them. I love when my clients feel that they are finding their voice, their truths, and are bravely growing louder, stronger, and bolder in the world. When one of us is better, we all are better.
