About My Clients
I'm not here to tell you what's "wrong" with you but instead, to explore what what you've experienced, how you've survived, and hopes for the future. You are the expert when it comes to you, and I'll offer my help to co-create a path to your goals. Along with foundational, evidence-based treatment modalities, sessions can include outdoor experiences such as Ecotherapy and Adventure Therapy. Positive psychology is embedded in my approach, shifting focus from problem to solution when you're ready.
My Background and Approach
My background includes many years in direct care and case management, intensive family counseling, medical social work, hospice/community bereavement counseling, and private practice counseling serving individuals, couples, families, and groups. I'm a Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor (LISW-S). My experience and certificates in EMDR and Trauma Responsive Care (TRCC II) have helped me gain a deep knowledge of how trauma impacts the physical body and brain. I've also completed a certificate in Ecopsychology and believe in the profound healing benefits of nature connection. I am trained in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and integration and can link you with a prescribing physician if you're interested in this treatment modality. Finally, my supervisor designation enables me to provide training supervision for social workers seeking independent licensure.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When I'm not with clients or managing the practice, I can often be found adventuring outdoors with my awesome kiddo or at home playing with our retired therapy dog, Koda, and our spunky gremlin kitty, Elvis. We especially love kayaking, hiking, climbing, biking, rollerblading, and visiting the local metroparks. I'm also into gardening, reading, yoga, TV and movies, and home improvement projects. As a long-time social worker, I am passionate about and active in combating a variety of social equity issues as well as climate change. I consider myself a strong ally for the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized and disenfranchised populations and am always advocating for those who are more vulnerable, even if it is not the popular opinion. I practice humility always because I know I have blindspots and can never fully understand others' experiences.
