About My Clients
Are you an adult struggling to manage life and relationships? Do you have a history of child abuse or chronic illness? I understand all too well how traumatic experiences and chronic illness contribute to trust issues, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, pain, and isolation. Are you ready to learn to control what you can and let go of what you can't? Whether working on managing life circumstances or relationship dynamics, we can help you create balance and wellbeing one talk at a time.
My Background and Approach
I have spent years developing my understanding of how to help people living with the consequences of traumatic childhood experiences and chronic illness find success getting their needs met and creating healthy relationships. I work collaboratively with clients to address concerns and identify tools that can help manage emotional responses and distress tolerance. I help clients increase their understanding of their experiences by pointing out a misalignment between thoughts, actions, and goals. The goal is to focus on what is happening (emotionally, physically, and psychologically) and develop a tool chest that you can use to decrease their impacts on your functioning and relationships. I have extensive experience working with couples, medical and hospice patients and their family members, and adults and teens living with anxiety disorders and symptoms. If you are ready to identify unhelpful patterns and achieve your goals, I look forward to working with you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We have the power to control our fate with our words, actions, and perceptions. Our words impact how we feel about ourselves, others, and experiences. When we adapt the way we speak to and about people, things, and situations, we better equip ourselves to work through life's challenges. Challenges are not foreign concepts to me. I am a child abuse survivor that lives with chronic medical issues and an anxiety disorder. With the help of counseling professionals, I learned to use multiple coping skills to manage my symptoms, relationships, and functioning. My goal is to empower clients to find what works for them. I am a strong proponent of helping people determine what works and doesn't work for them without judgment. I do not discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation, race, or other biological/physical trait. If you are ready to identify how your communication, thought, and behavioral patterns impact your life, I look forward to speaking with you!
