About My Clients
You might be trans or GNC looking for support in exploring or transitioning. You might be LGBTQ+ looking for a therapist who identifies as queer. It's possible you feel emotions deeper than others, which leads to intense relationships. You might self-harm or have even tried to end your life. You might have been abused, or maybe you have a history of being invalidated. You might not even trust your own feelings. It's possible that you have deep attachment wounds that you'd like to heal.
My Background and Approach
The foundation for all of my work with clients is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, sex-positive, anti-racist care. From there, I use one of three approaches, depending on what you need. The first is supportive therapy for trans/GNC individuals and loved ones who are looking for a therapist to walk with them while they explore their identity, coming out, or transition. I offer free one-session assessments and referral letters for hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgeries. For clients ready for in-depth insight-oriented work, I utilize (Brief) Psychodynamic/Attachment-Focused Psychotherapy. This rich and unstructured approach lets you explore any areas that are important for your growth, especially utilizing the therapeutic relationship we develop to guide and heal. The third approach I use is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) - informed treatment. DBT is an evidence-based therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder, self-harming, impulsive, or suicidal clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy is a cooperative, mutual experience that changes all involved. I have a "down to earth" approach that helps clients feel comfortable with the therapeutic process. I aim to be anti-racist and LGBT+ affirming as a way of life. In addition to working with trans/GNC, LGB+, and BPD clients, I also have a passion for working with clients with a history of abuse, including sexual abuse and spiritual/religious abuse. Going through the effects that trauma has had on you is integral to all of our work together. Sometimes my approach utilizes a lot of structure and skills to help get you through a painful situation. In other sessions, we might spend time exploring insights together as we find the source of an issue and its connection to your relationships and the rest of your life. Often, the therapeutic relationship that we build leads to the most healing. I would feel honored to be a part of your journey.
