About My Clients
I supervise a wonderful group of sex-positive clinicians who share my focus on issues related to sex, sexuality and gender. My Background and Approach
As a graduate of the University of Minnesota's Program in Human Sexuality Postdoctoral Fellowship, I practice sex therapy from a sex positive perspective. This means that sex is a positive force in our lives and there is a wide variety of healthy ways to express sexuality. We focus broadly on any issues related to sex, sexuality and gender. identity. Specific areas include sexual dysfunction, out of control sexual behavior, sexual orientation, gender identity and transition, body positivity and Health at Every Size, communication and conflict, the impact of systems of oppression on functioning, ethical nonmonogamy, and kinks. We offer individual, family, relationship, and group psychotherapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have always been committed to social justice, which is something that is front and center in my work as a sex therapist. I started Carolina Sexual Wellness Center is 2016 as a nonprofit sex therapy and education center in the Triangle area of NC. My goals were to make quality sex therapy services accessible to all, provide accurate and honest sex education to the broader community, and provide sex positive training opportunities for clinicians in the area. It is important to me to provide opportunities for therapists from marginalized communities to get excited about sex therapy and grow into careers in which they are historically underrepresented. Similarly, it is important for clients to be able to find therapists that look like them and have similar backgrounds. I am a warm, passionate and compassionate person, and I want to help my clients identify and express their authenticity and feel good about who they are.
