About My Clients
Do you feel held back because you think and feel differently? Are you unable to successfully communicate your experience of the world and are afraid to be yourself with others? If you are constantly hitting roadblocks, having a hard time explaining yourself, and wish things could be better, therapy could be helpful for you. If you have anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, ADHD, twice-exceptional, or are an immigrant or a caregiver, I will work with you to gain adaptive life skills.
My Background and Approach
As someone who has worked in different systems in a collectivist and individualist countries (India and Canada), with people stemming from a variety of financial backgrounds in a range of settings, I understand first hand the impact of systemic discrimination, socio-economic hurdles, and lack of awareness on mental health services. I am perceptive and recognize that there are tonnes of invisible barriers that exist, even though they do not seem like it to people who don't experience it first-hand. This is something I feel strongly about and a huge part of my work is helping people learn and communicate those barriers to better advocate for themselves and find success in whatever aspect of their lives they wish to. I work from the assumption that every individual, including you, definitely has the motivation to grow and become the best version of yourself. I intend to help you figure out 'your goals' and help you create a customized approach caring for yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I genuinely believe every individual deserves to be treated with respect irrespective of their race, gender, age, sexual orientation, appearance, and financial status. I am willing to earn your trust and work with you to help you achieve your goals. I will listen to things you will say and take your feedback each session as I am committed to bringing out the best in you. To ensure that I can provide services that are culturally sensitive and humble, I work from a trauma-informed and anti-oppression approach. I work to learn and unlearn actively to decolonize my practice. I fully support LGBTQ2S Community, Black Lives Matters Movement, BIPOC & Neurodiverse clients. Let's explore your neurodiversity, your personal and cultural history, and other components of your identity to find the strength to move forward!
