About My Clients
Are you tired of feeling like you don't really belong or are too much or not enough? Tired of feeling anxious? Aching to step out of all the experiences and beliefs that are holding you back from being the person you truly feel you are? I believe that most of the things truly worth doing in life can be scary and I know getting into therapy can be a difficult decision. I truly believe that holistic therapy can be deeply freeing and reconnect you with who you are and want to be.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a variety of therapeutic treatment approaches to work on top-down processing which is what most talk therapy is and bottom-up brain techniques like somatic therapy, EMDR and using imaginative interventions. Trauma is often stored in multiple areas of the brain and may be experienced in many different ways. Sometimes responding to trauma looks like being a perfectionist, for some being a hot mess and just like there is not one way of experiencing reactions to trauma there is not one perfect modality which is why I utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions so that we can treat the trauma holistically. I also like to think of coping skills as a menu and it is all about figuring out what resonates with and works best for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all of life is a journey instead of a destination and the measure of worth is how well we treat each other. I support the Black Lives Matter movement and have been to protests. I strive to unlearn the cultural colonization that has stripped so many of their culture. I also try to understand and decolonize my approach to therapy. I strive to be antiracist. I also strive to be an affirming therapist to those who are LGBTQ2S+. I take continuing education to continue to learn more about issues these communities face and the latest therapeutic techniques to provide affirming care. I am deeply concerned with what is happening politically and how it is impacting people especially as I live in the Mat-Su Borough and have seen the choices the school board is making.
