About My Clients
Whether you’re struggling with anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder and emotional eating, you need to know that you’re not alone. Each individual has unique issues that they are facing. I offer specialized treatment designed to help teens and adults in the Kansas City and Lawrence area with eating disorders heal physically and emotionally. My approach is designed to help you recover as you deal with the day-to-day stresses of school, work and life.
My Background and Approach
My interest in eating disorders began over 24 years ago at the Menninger Clinic. There I developed and led Adult Inpatient, Adolescent Inpatient, Day Treatment, and Intensive Outpatient groups. I continued my passion in working with individuals with eating disorders and their families at the Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center Eating Disorder Program. For the past 14 years, I have provided individual, couples, and family therapy on an outpatient basis. In my private practice, I love engaging with teens, and find that applying my Music Therapy training and expressive arts therapies helps them to identify, connect, express, release, and ultimately resolve pent-up emotions. My approach is tailored to start where you are, and meet your unique needs in our work together. Our work together is integrative, insight-oriented, using psychodynamic approaches to understand how the past has shaped you, emotionally and relationally. We may use other tools such as ACT/DBT to help connect with values.
