About My Clients

Being a member of the military or first responder community can easily lead to frustration, relationship difficulties, insomnia, and anxiety. Navigating transitions can be tough, including PCS moves, job and schedule changes. In my work with you, I want you to be in control, rather than your anxiety and irritability dictating your decisions. I look forward to working with either the first responder/veteran or family member that struggles with the uncertainty of this life.

My Background and Approach

The majority of my professional life has been working with veterans and their families by providing people with tools and skills to better manage trauma, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, and relationship difficulties. I utilize CBT, mindfulness, and trauma focused approaches (including CPT and PE) during sessions. I want you to better understand what is causing your symptoms, so that you can develop an action plan to identify and manage your triggers. I also want people to feel more in control, without feeling guilt or regret after acting out of anger. People have told me that they most appreciate my willingness to be direct, genuine, and use humor during sessions.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that identifying unhelpful behaviors is the first step to making changes, but asking for help can be the toughest step. Once people are motivated and commit to change, their capacity for growth is limitless. I've spent my life as a Marine dependent (daughter and spouse of retired Marines), and I watched both my father and husband leave on combat deployments. I've watched my friends return from deployment or leave their service and find they lack purpose or struggle to "fit in." I've seen my friends who are first responders struggle with the day in and day out burnout. I understand the struggles our community deals with and can help you navigate your way forward.
