About My Clients
It is a privilege to connect and know individuals on a deep and personal level. My work is focused on those who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief and trauma recovery. I hope to aid individuals in finding more acceptance within themselves and freedom in their lives.
My Background and Approach
I'm currently enrolled at ISU to obtain a Masters in Counseling. I have a BS in Fine Arts and Masters in Teaching. My work experience includes facilitating activity and expressive groups with individuals who struggle with severe mental health issues. In my own journey, I’ve been drawn to concepts of unconditional self-acceptance, compassion and mindfulness. Counseling is a space that is nonjudgemental. It’s where you can expect that I will listen, do my best to understand your perspective and show up as my honest self. It’s through this accepting environment that individuals are able to understand themselves better and make change in their lives. Carl Young said that “What we resist not only persists, but will grow in size.” However, what we can accept we can transform.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to providing a therapeutic environment that is affirming of one’s gender identity and sexual orientation. I believe effectiveness in counseling relies on working within a client’s worldview and culture. I have a supportive and warm approach and I hope to help individuals become their own expert in meeting their mental health needs. As a counselor-in-training, I will learn and grow from our time together. I appreciate your willingness to engage in a therapeutic relationship that I hope will serve to further greater wellbeing.
