About My Clients
Have you ever felt anxiety show up out of no where, while standing in line at the grocery store and and feel like your heart might explode? Or have days when you feel so awful you can't get out of bed? I get it. It's one thing to feel supported and understood in therapy, but it's another to go out in the world and manage the daily overwhelm and triggers that can set us back and make it hard to function in the moment. I want to support you in AND outside the therapy space with easy usable tools.
My Background and Approach
As an Integrative Movement Psychotherapist I have spent over 20 years helping people just like you heal, not just through the mind, but through the body as well. I use multiple evidence based practices infused with creativity and art, dance and mindfulness, poetry and books, neuroscience and the power of nature, all to help holistically heal the whole body-mind-spirit. We might create a family tree to understand the patterns we may have inherited, or get outdoors to access our nature allies in helping us calm our nervous systems through all our senses, or even try some movement and rhythms to connect with and heal from the wounds of trauma. I very much look forward to hearing from you and figuring out and fixing what hurts, together. We will create a backpack of tools you can access anywhere any time you need them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a person of color and immigrant, who grew up in a conservative, strong women-centered family, in a country where I was a minority but also where I was afforded privileges I did not have to earn. This is why I believe that women and a powerful force of nature capable of anything they put their minds to, and that they get only more potent with age. I believe that the family we were born into does not have to dictate the lives we create and choose to live, and that all people deserve to live healthy, joy-filled lives no matter their circumstances. And I believe that change and growth are possible at any age and within any limitations. The things we focus on become the story of our life, so why not focus on the things that are truly meaningful and that support us to be the best version of ourselves.
