About My Clients
I have worked for years with adults who struggle with anxiety, mood disorders, drug & alcohol addiction, relationship difficulties, grief & loss. Together we will identify how your thoughts connect to your feelings. I will help you by providing you with exercises and tools so you can find relief, peace of mind, reduce the negative thoughts and emotions , and learn how to cope with these challenges whenever and wherever they arise.
My Background and Approach
Over my years of practice I have found that identifying, then changing, negative thought patterns, can quickly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and even trauma. These symptoms, when not addressed, can lead to behaviors such as drinking & drug use, and even thoughts and attempts of self-harm and suicide. Applying these evidenced-based techniques will greatly reduce, and even prevent, the negative thoughts and harmful behaviors. When these negative thoughts impact your emotional state, this is where we focus on the bodily sensations, and work through them by applying somatic (body-focused) techniques. With somatic therapy, we incorporate body-oriented modalities such as breathwork, meditation, and visualization.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer that you are the expert, and I am here to guide and support you, meet you where you are at, and provide the tools that I think will be most useful for what you are struggling with. Being an advocate and supporter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has been very helpful as in destigmatizing, and raising awareness about, mental health. Just like we take care of ourselves physically and spiritually, we need to take care of our mental and emotional well-being, too! Reaching out for help is not a weakness, but rather courageous and brave. It is not easy for many people to do! I encourage people to be open, learn to gain trust with me, and know that I here to support you.
