I work with a variety of issues including: anxiety and panic attacks, depression, gender identity, sexuality, grief, young adult transition issues, cancer survivors, divorce, and maternal mental health. Although I have significant experience working with children, teens, adults, and geriatrics, my practice is primarily focused on working with adults. I am a LGBQIA and Trans Affirming Therapist.
My Background and Approach
Professionally, I am an Ivy League educated and seasoned psychotherapist with over 20 years working with adults, adolescents, and children. I hold a Master of Social Work degree with a Concentration in Direct Practice from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA (2000) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Minor in Women's Studies from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ (1998).
Overall, I utilize an eclectic approach, as I believe one size does not fit all in therapy. The foundation of my treatment approach is heavily based in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Humanistic (Person Centered Therapy), Psychodynamic, Structural Family Therapy and Strength Based Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Welcome! I am so glad you are here. It takes courage and strength to seek help and you are taking the first step today. You may have been thinking about reaching out for some time now, but it has been difficult. I recognize and appreciate how hard this process is for you. Sometimes it may feel as though you are a volcano with lava bubbling inside and at any moment you are going to erupt. You are not alone.
I am here to help. I believe it is an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to work with clients and help provide the support needed during challenging times. Through challenges we become even stronger. It can be a relief to share your thoughts, feelings, fears, and joys with a professional who is trained in the art of listening and counseling.
My approach is gentle and kind. I follow your lead. This is your ship to sail. We are along for the ride and to help guide you when you reach choppy waters. So, let's get started on our journey today!
