About My Clients

"Life is a struggle." That is what one memorable professor used to say. I believe that is true for many of us, at least some of the time. If you feel overwhelmed by traumatic stress, marital strife, grief, anxiety, depression, or life transition; we can help. Couples, teens, and adults are people we love to see. Specialized populations we work with include Catholics and adult survivors of alcoholics and other difficult parents. Call or go online to make your appointment.

My Background and Approach

Hi, I'm Kim. I know how it feels to have life punch you in the gut. It's normal to need extra support during these difficult times. Twice tragically bereaved, I have deep compassion for people who are hurting. My educational background is in psychology, then a master's degree in mental health counseling. As a counselor, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is proven to help with anxiety and depression. It can be modified to be trauma-focused. For couples, Emotionally Focused Therapy is effective. I enjoy serving the Catholic population, who have a unique way of understanding the world. I grew up in St. Henry, Ohio and currently live in Coldwater. I am looking forward to bringing good therapy to the surrounding community. Call today to make an appointment.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My work is informed by my view of the human person. As a Catholic, I ascribe to John Paul II's understanding of personhood. We are each created in the image and likeness of God. Each person has worth and dignity as God's creature. Only God has the right to pass moral judgement on a person. However, people can judge between right and wrong actions. I believe that absolute truth exists, even though that truth may be filtered through our individual biased lenses. Ultimately, all suffering is a product of sin entering into the world. However, not all suffering is directly related to the wrong doing of the person who suffers. I believe in the right to life from conception until natural death. We all struggle at times to do what is right. We each deserve compassion when we choose what is wrong and suffer from our choice.
