About My Clients

I work best with women, female-identifying, and non-binary individuals who are so tired of being unhappy that they’re ready to do some real work. Whether they're just starting out in their career, moving into a completely new profession, staying at home with young children, getting married, getting divorced, changing a relationship dynamic, dealing with new family drama, or opening up an old can of family worms, I'm here to support them through all of it.

My Background and Approach

My background is in systems, how they operate, and how we operate in them - whether they be in families, communities, or cultures - thanks to my graduate education at East Tennessee State University where I completed a masters program in Marriage & Family Therapy. After graduating, I was a stay-at-home for six years and a military spouse, until I decided to pursue my career in therapy by starting my private practice. I work best with those who are so tired of being unhappy that they’re ready to make some concrete changes, and I’m thrilled to support you in doing that as we work on your goals, on your timeline, and with your input throughout the process. I'll help you clarify your values and vision, and we'll decrease the impact and influence of any painful, unpleasant, or negative thoughts and feelings that seem to be getting in your way. You'll leave sessions with tools that you can use over and over again no matter what life throws at you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and work to be a compassionate, accepting, nonjudgmental presence for those who feel alienated because of their gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. I lean left both politically and socially, but work whole-heartedly with clients across the political spectrum. I am cis-gendered, have been through divorce and remarriage, and have two biological daughters. Because I view the personal as political, I have enjoyed working with a local nonprofit focused on public education reform, with the goal of implementing a more equitable educational system across racial and socioeconomic lines.

Are you a patient or a client?

Clients often call asking to make a “new patient appointment,” though I never use the term "patient" when talking about the individuals who work with me. Let’s talk about the impact of words on the therapeutic relationship and how that relationship manifests in my own practice.
