About My Clients
I primarily work with individuals who have experienced upsetting, disturbing, or traumatic events, or are going through difficult life changes. My clients often experience problematic or limiting beliefs about themselves, relationships, or the world around them which may have led to complex PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem; sometimes they're just sick of patterns they can't break out of no matter how much they want to experience a change. All identities welcome!
My Background and Approach
For the past 12+ years, I have provided individual and group counseling services to survivors of interpersonal violence both inside and outside of prison walls, as well as individuals in a long-term addiction and mental health treatment program. I've witnessed an extensive overlap between trauma, mental health, and substance abuse which has motivated me to fight alongside my clients with compassion and humor. I see the world through an EMDR lens, but I believe in integrating a variety of techniques -- this is about *you.* I combine "here and now" skills that help you get through the days between sessions (grounding, time management, problem solving, goal setting, etc.) with the exploration of old wounds which are often rooted in disturbing events and negative beliefs. And hopefully, we find some moments of joy along the way. **Also licensed in Washington, DC
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My mission is to create accessible and inclusive healing spaces for individuals and communities using an anti-racist lens. Being anti-racist is an ongoing learning process, and I am committed to seeking opportunities to better understand systemic barriers to wellness, my white privilege and how that can show up in the therapeutic space, and ways to integrate anti-racist practice and policy. Part of my vision includes building community partnerships with like-minded clinicians with whom I can operationalize the "social justice" principle of social work. Being a member of The Meta Theatre company (an abolitionist social justice theatre group) for nearly 10 years has been a transformative experience and has served as the inspiration and foundation for Healing Reimagined, LLC, and will continue to guide me on this journey. As a bonus, I also love all things Halloween, my dog (Dobby), crafting, theatre, traveling, and nail art.
