About My Clients
I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are struggling with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, abuse recovery, and processing and healing from trauma. I am available for both in-person and telehealth sessions. I work with clients to develop a plan to address the issues with which they're struggling and utilize a number of different treatment modalities to assist clients in reaching their goals.
My Background and Approach
I have 29 years of experience in the field of mental health. In addition to being licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, I am also a Certified Grief Counselor, Certified Animal-Assisted Therapist, and Certified Trauma Informed Professional. I am a trained EMDR therapist and I am currently working towards certification. I have worked in a number of settings, including shelters for the homeless and victims of domestic violence, schools, and outpatient mental health organizations. I use a humanistic and integrative approach that draws from evidence-based practices including EMDR, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and psychoeducation. I tailor each session to the client's unique needs, helping to process emotions, build resilience, and reclaim a sense of control and peace in the client's life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I feel strongly that we are meant to live our lives fully as our best selves. Life can throw us many curveballs, such as traumatic moments and/or toxic and unhealthy relationships, that impact our ability to do this. I am passionate about helping individuals understand their worth, develop and maintain boundaries with others, and know and follow through on their "dealbreakers". I care immensely for helping people heal from their traumas.
