About My Clients
My ideal clients are adults and older adults seeking support with processing different transitions in their lives, including a new diagnosis of an illness, loss of a loved one, or simply being an older person/aging. Being an Asian American, I am also interested in supporting individuals as they process and understand their nuances of Asian identity, including intergenerational trauma.
My Background and Approach
Kimberly received her Master of Social Work (MSW) at NYU Silver School of Social Work, graduating as a fellow in the Zelda Foster Palliative/End of Life cohort. She also received her post-master's certificate in Palliative and End of Life at NYU Silver. She has worked in mainly large NY hospital settings and is very familiar with working with populations with oncology and serious/chronic illnesses. She also has done a lot of work with grief/bereavement, supporting both individuals in their coping as well as running several bereavement groups. Kimberly is interested in working with individuals around the nuances of Asian American identity, being Korean-American herself. Kimberly's practice style comes from a blend of models, including Cognitive Based Therapy, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based therapy. Her goal is to make sure sessions are patient-centered and collaborative.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a strong believer of therapy as a tool in their mental/emotional toolbox. Every one is different and has different needs, yet when you are going through something difficult-you do not have to that alone. Having worked in a busy hospital setting providing emotional counseling to my patients and families, I have learned the importance of supportive presence and creating an affirming, safe space when needed. Let me create that space and presence for you-let's work together!
