About My Clients

On the outside, the people I work with appear to have it all together. But- in reality, they never feel good enough, they're overwhelmed and they feel like they're barely keeping it together. That voice inside of their head is constantly telling them that they aren't good enough. Sometimes, they even drink too much to try to take the "edge" off. I help my clients get back on their own priority list without feeling guilty or selfish about doing it. It's time to start LIVING your best life.

My Background and Approach

My work with you is to bridge the gaps that keep you from taking time for yourself and to feel like you're living more of a life that you get to enjoy. In my work, I take holistic and comprehensive approaches to therapy using evidenced based treatment modalities and mind-body work. Some of the modalities I use with my clients include relational therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, CBT and an energy-based therapy called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique/"tapping"). I work with both 12-Step and Non 12-Step approaches as well as harm reduction and moderation. Together, we will create treatment goals that are tailored to your unique situation. We will work together to help you reprioritize yourself while still caring for those you love at the same time and to achieve a better balance in your life. Let's create the life that you have been dreaming about. Imagine feeling less stress, having more time for yourself, more time to laugh and find peaceful moments...it is possible!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that many people HAVE lives, but they aren't LIVING their lives. They go through the motions but seldom have those moments where they feel real joy in life. We always have time to change that. We always have an opportunity to redirect our lives in a way that feels more genuine, where we can be who we really are without feeling the need to fit a mold of what we are "supposed" to be. In my work with substance abuse, I often tell clients that I see it as a symptom of a problem; not THE problem. I work to help my clients identify what is happening in their lives that they feel the need to get away from by drinking or using drugs. Once life feels better, the need to drown it out often disappears. I do work with people in different capacities such as 12-step, non 12-step, harm reduction and moderation approaches, depending on the client's goals. I believe that "fit" is most important between therapist and client so that we both feel comfortable in our work together.
