About My Clients
If you believe you are out of chances, the disconnection too gaping, and path forward unclear: know that you are not alone and there is always hope. We can identify patterns born from past hurts and trauma and begin to write a new story for you and your family. As you build trust in yourself and relationships you will gain the clarity and strength to live a life of authenticity.
My Background and Approach
I completed my undergraduate degree at Whitworth University and my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Theological Seminary. Prior to becoming a clinician I applied wilderness therapy techniques as a mountaineering and sea kayaking guide in BC, Canada, and worked with at-risk youth through a non-profit faith-based organization. I have experience working in intensive outpatient programs for eating disorders, self-harm, OCD, and social anxiety, with a focus on complex trauma and PTSD. As a trauma-informed systemic therapist I explore the way family of origin, present relationships, and past hurt are intertwined to all the "diagnosable" troubles many of us seek therapy to resolve.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life free from the shame, self-doubt, and questions of being "good enough". I recognize therapy is a privilege and I hope for its accessibility to every person in every walk of life. As a result I volunteer at various community centers providing pro-bono counseling, work with a local family-advocacy center, and offer sliding scale sessions through openpathcollective.org. With an extensive faith-background I recognize the church can simultaneously be a place of safety and healing for some, and a place of abuse and shame for others. I am passionate about working with the LGBTQ community, learning from their stories, and processing ways to live authentically. I recognize the striving many people face on a daily basis trying to earn their place at the table leading to living a less-than authentic life. My greatest joy is walking alongside my clients and witnessing movement towards experiencing a life worth living.
