About My Clients
You know you turn to food but you just can't seem to stop. And dieting--you've done them all!--hasn't helped. You're tired of feeling out-of-control with food, and yet you're tired of trying to control your eating. This is where I come in! Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Intuitive Eating approaches, we'll figure out exactly what leads you to food. We'll work toward cultivating an enjoyable relationship with food that allows you to eat whatever you want in a way that works for you.
My Background and Approach
I'm a Clinical Psychologist and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor who's been working with women who struggle with emotional eating and body image issues for 20 years. And I gotta tell you, I've made a million mistakes. I'm not at all proud to say that I used to help women try to lose weight. And it never worked. Because, of course, diets DON'T work. Control should never be your goal with food--freedom and flexibility should. So now, my work is all about helping you to get curious about all of the complexities of emotional eating, enjoy a flexible relationship with food, and learn how to sit with your emotions and manage them in a healthy, positive way. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Intuitive Eating to help you achieve these goals. I also value the Health at Every Size (HAES) approach and am passionate about respecting and valuing your body, leaning into your uniqueness as a person, and taking up space in this world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that food should be enjoyed and that diets should be outlawed. I believe that food is soothing and can be used at a coping skill sometimes. I also believe that all bodies are good bodies and that your weight is not your worth.
