About My Clients
I work with individuals of all ages, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, infidelity, and relationship stress. I support teens through the particular chaos of growing up, and couples who want to start a marriage on solid ground. My practice is LGBTQ-affirming and rooted in anti-racist, allyship-driven care — open to people of every background and identity. If something's not working, or you simply want more out of life, this is a space for that.
My Background and Approach
I'm a Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT) and Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGLPC) in Virginia and D.C., and an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC). My clinical training includes TF-CBT, DBT, EFT, the Gottman Method, and Attachment Theory — which means I'm not running every client through the same script. I use what actually fits you. My practice is LGBTQ-affirming and rooted in anti-racist, allyship-driven care. You don't have to educate me before you can trust me, and you don't have to leave any part of yourself at the door. I'm also a wife and a parent, which means I've lived some version of what many clients are navigating, not just studied it. Sessions are telehealth-only, trauma-informed, and built around your goals — not a standard protocol.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and racial justice — not as positions I adopted professionally, but as values I've lived. Several of my family members identify as LGBTQ+, and their experiences have shaped not just how I practice but who I am. I'm also a former high school English teacher of 23 years, which means I spent two decades in classrooms learning how to meet people exactly where they are — something I bring into every session. In 2025 I relocated to Costa Rica, where I live with my husband, our two dogs, and a cat of questionable motives. One of those dogs, Perry, is a trained therapy dog who graduated VCU with me and occasionally crashes sessions for clients who need a love bomb from a dog. I'm a member of the American Counseling Association, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling. I believe therapy should feel like a space you don't have to brace yourself for. That's what I'm building.
