About My Clients

If you're stuck or uncertain, afraid of what the future holds, or simply seeking to realize more of your own resilience and authenticity, you are not alone. Being a human can be overwhelming. Challenges such as grief and loss, career difficulties, relationship issues, and the general state of the world can make finding joy seem impossible. I work with adults with a variety of needs and help them find hope, health, and happiness again.

My Background and Approach

I believe so much of what we think, feel, and do is influenced by the stories we tell ourselves. Sometimes we need an editor for those stories, which is where I come in. My recent training in the mental health field includes a post-graduate certificate in Narrative Healthcare from Lenoir-Rhyne University. I regularly pursue continuing education related to narrative as well as creative modalities such as expressive arts. I believe art and music can be immensely healing and enjoy using both with my clients, when appropriate. My approach is two-fold: I work to facilitate an honest, real relationship and through that help you realize your own resilience, identifying strengths you can use to better cope with challenges as well as introducing new tools that you may have always had available to you, you just needed help tapping into them.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the power of two individuals working towards a common goal. I'm in awe of it, actually, and that's one of the main things that attracted me to the counseling field. I seek to meet clients where they are and apply a person-centered approach, while drawing from modalities based in narrative therapy, mindfulness, expressive arts, and other methods as appropriate. I also believe in the power of story, nature, creativity, and humor, and have seen all play an important role in clients' (and my own) healing. I love music (both playing and listening to it); more than a degree or job title, I would say "story teller and listener" sums up my identity in a nutshell. I believe there are not enough relationships committed to honesty and kindness in the world, so I make that my north star. Sometimes, I stray from that. I make mistakes or say something stupid. I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong or don't know something, and I consider myself a lifelong learner.
