About My Clients
I have experience working with older adults in periods of transition: retirement, illness, caregiving, death, divorce, and relationship loss. I also provide support for individuals stressed about the current political climate.
My Background and Approach
I aim to demystify mental health counseling by making it less about a diagnosis and more about a therapeutic relationship. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide variety of clients: children and families, men and women in the military, refugees, older adults and people affected by dementia. The common thread in my experience is my desire for self-compassion, empathy and vulnerability. I often utilize mindfulness, emotionally focused therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, empowerment, and narrative therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I volunteer with a local refugee resettlement organization, serving as their Community Liaison. I work to build relationships between refugees and other members of my town, understanding that none of us really feel welcome until we've been pulled into the fold. I coordinate community gatherings and family dinners.
