About My Clients

I have experience working with older adults in periods of transition: retirement, illness, caregiving, death, divorce, and relationship loss. I also enjoy working with women in mid-life who realize they need more support than usual during this phase of life. Because I am private pay, I work with highly motivated clients who are ready to dig deep and move towards change that is necessary for healing. Most clients feel relief after the first session, and are ready to move on after 6-12 months.

My Background and Approach

After working in the Alzheimer's, aging and mental health field for 20 years, I feel confident in my areas of expertise and enjoy taking the time to listen closely and move at a pace that best serves you. I have spent years getting trained in EMDR and IFS, moving beyond the basic trainings and into certifications and higher levels of understanding, practice and technique. These modalities help you get out of your thinking brain and into deeper, subconscious levels that finally move your system towards healing. If just talking about our problems/trauma/grief was enough, we would all be healed by now. But EMDR and IFS are a relief because you don't have to work so hard to gain new insight, create new neural pathways, and start to see a difference in the way you move through the world. I also have a couple of niche offerings--ketamine assisted psychotherapy and Induced After Death Communication, both wildly effective grief treatments.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have been deconstructing my evangelical upbringing for the past ten years, and still find hidden relics of my childhood deep in my psyche, so it is a lifelong process. There is a distinct people-pleasing tendency that southern women are socialized into, myself included, and I find this shows up a lot in my personal and professional life. I have been trained by the Racial Equity Institute which, paired with my social work/social justice background, helps me to recognize my own white privilege. I see how white supremacy and the patriarchy have caused so much harm to all of us. I frequently guide others through recognizing how we are a product of the systems in which we live, a sort of "macro therapy." I'm involved in a local non-partisan group that encourages women to engage in local politics. I also do a fair amount of dream work and am fascinated by the messages we receive from our dream maker.
