About My Clients
Life loves its curveballs. Adults can barely handle them, and now your child is struggling. You've given hugs, talks, and plenty of space, but their grades are slipping, they're moody and shut out the world. Your little one needs more cuddles and is afraid of everything. Their once bright eyes are now so sad and little changes in routines cause a meltdown. The “new normal” everyone talks about doesn’t seem to be in sight. You and your family need support now more than ever.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to work collaboratively with you and your child in sessions to identify triggers and create helpful coping behaviors. Along with helping you to create clear expectations and structure, I help children tap into their innate sense of self and build self-confidence. I have an eclectic style as a result of my varied experience. I use a number of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy and am in ongoing training. As a social worker I believe in expanding your family's support systems and building current strengths. As appropriate I collaborate with schools and often empower families to advocate for their child's needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I've been a social worker for nearly 20 years. Before that, I was a Black kid growing up in Baltimore City. To advocate for myself and those in need is second nature. I am an antiracist and a fierce ally for marginalized communities. My belief is we aren't free until we all are free.
