About My Clients
My personal approach to counseling is catered towards the belief that when my client is seen and heard, meaningful and positive change can happen! As a licensed mental health counselor, we can work together in a collaborative effort to give you the tools, insight and empowerment to create something different and better in your life. My style has been described as soothing and compassionate, and I draw on this to create a place where you can feel safe to share.
My Background and Approach
I am trained and specialize in trauma therapy, and I utilize an eclectic and holistic approach to therapy, including EFT (emotion focused therapy), somatic and trauma informed care, motivational interviewing and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy). I am trained in EMDR, (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) which I utilize in sessions to reduce triggers and facilitate healing. I focus on helping you to connect experiences and patterns in your life to how you may feel about yourself and the world around you. With this approach, I can foster a sense of empowerment and healing of trauma and help you to move forward with peace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I like to spend time with my husband and children, and have a great love for dogs. I have a Great Dane and a Dachshund, who make things really messy but are treasured memories of our family. I love to read and may reference books, music and movies from time to time.
