My Background and Approach
In my experience Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is essential to provoking change when your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are unaligned. I have utilized this treatment method for those who would like to be able to better navigate life challenges with the knowledge of how their thoughts can influence their feelings which then can lead to certain behaviors. I use this method in my practice to assist others better understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviors to improve their quality of life. Motivational Interviewing emphasizes supporting clients’ belief in their ability to change. By affirming their strengths and past successes, I help build their confidence. We discuss their previous attempts at change, identifying what worked and what didn’t, and use these insights to bolster their self-efficacy. By focusing on empathy, collaboration, and eliciting clients’ own motivations, MI helps clients overcome resistance and build the confidence to make positive changes in their lives.
