About My Clients
"Everybody has some type of anxiety." Yes, I've heard this statement many times, and though it's partially true, anxiety can look different for everyone. The constant worrying, the "what ifs", thinking the absolute worse thing is about to happen. I've been there before, so I understand 100%! I'd like to help you with your anxiety and depression symptoms to alleviate the stress it's causing and begin to learn positive coping mechanisms to maintain a healthy life.
My Background and Approach
My counseling style is not the typical “How does that make you feel?’approach. I believe in a transparent approach, as this allows both you and me to foster a trusting relationship. We're in this together going at your pace and individualizing your plans and goals. I currently am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in North Carolina. I have experience working with the following mental health diagnoses: anxiety, depression, life transitions, daily life stressors, and grief/loss.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
During the pandemic I'm sure we all noticed the increase of mental health awareness across the nation, and then there's the negative stigma about mental health. For some seeking help or therapy is a form of weakness or seen as this individual is "crazy." I will admit I was one of those individuals who had the same thought, UNTIL I began to notice anxiety symptoms in myself. Now, in my opinion seeking therapy is an investment in yourself, through therapy I learned so much about myself, and I thought I knew myself better than anyone because..... well I'm ME! I have a strong interest in bringing mental health education to Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) because individuals in this population have experienced, and are still experiencing extreme traumas and biases in mental health treatment.
